But after smoking for half a century, the 68-year-old is worried she won't make it unless she finds a way to quit the habit that's been with her for so long.

She's tried to quit before with little luck. Friese even used a nicotine patch but ended up in the hospital after a negative reaction to a high nicotine dose.

But now she's hoping that a new program offered through her employer, UW Hospital, will make quitting easier.
