As hard as it is to imagine now, Syracuse Crunch forward Mark Hartigan repeatedly fell flat at his early attempts to play hockey at an elite level.
Growing up in Fort St. John, British Columbia, Hartigan was cut from the top tier of junior-hockey teams there for several seasons in a row. He played at lower levels, a setback that he turned into a positive by earning more ice-time and developing a well-rounded skill set.
