PHOENIX -- The World Baseball Classic, praised and maligned since the concept was announced last summer, took a more tangible form Friday when Team USA worked out for the first time.
The players took a 7 a.m. bus to Chase Field, not long after convening for the first time Thursday night and seeing a highlight video. They watched 4 minutes of euphoric history, a sliver of the past that allowed them to glimpse the giddy WBC possibilities this month.
The U.S. players saw highlights of Team USA's 4-0 win against Cuba for the gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. There was Ben Sheets completing his ...
