A high-carb diet did wonders for George Clooney's Golden Globe-winning turn as a CIA operative in "Syriana." But it was an altogether different kind of sustenance which energized the 44-year-old thesp's screenwriting skills for "Good Night and Good Luck."
Along with writing partner Grant Heslov, Clooney subsisted on a liberal diet of "food films" to help nourish their vision for the '50s-set newsroom drama.
"It was Sidney Pollack who called them food films," said Clooney in a recent telephone interview. "What he (Pollack) meant was films with ideas that had social and political relevance. I'm thinking particularly about the mid '60s to mid '70s, which ...
