Jolliff and Great Bridge middle schools both had tricks up their football sleeves entering the Chesapeake Middle School League championship last Wednesday .
The difference? Jolliff's trick worked, resulting in two touchdowns in the first quarter. Great Bridge's backfired, resulting in a scoreless first half for the Wildcats and lost momentum.
Jolliff coach Ricky Bright changed a few of his key players' jersey numbers to throw off the Wildcats and ran a new offensive formation. It worked. Running back Vernon Payne, in his new No. 33 jersey, scored 12 ...
