MANILA, March 6 Asia Pulse - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) will continue to pursue for an extension of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) which will end in 2008.
Agrarian Secretary Nasser Pangandaman confirmed this move after Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago proposed the agency's abolition when the CARP ends.
"I respect her view but we need to push for the extension because there's still land to be distributed, agrarian cases to be settled and support services to be undertaken," he explained.
He said the agency is seeking at least a four-year extension of CARP which has been on a 10-year extended run since 1998.
