I personally do quite a lot of injection immunotherapy, but I do think sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is worth researching. My colleagues and I think there's merit in asking whether this might be a better option for allergic patients both now and in the future.
We have to be sure safety is completely acceptable before we say there is no need to explore alternatives to injection immunotherapy. There are practical issues to consider as well. It's clear to us that we have many patients who cannot get to allergy clinics in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe.
