Single-handedly, writer Frank Conroy contradicts the cliche that goes, ``Those that can, do; those that can't, teach.''
That Conroy can has been evident since the 1967 publication of ``Stop-Time,'' his acclaimed childhood memoir, and more recently with the publication of his new novel, ``Body and Soul.''
And, as director of the celebrated Writers Workshop at the University of Iowa and former director of the literature program for the National Endowment for the Arts, Conroy has shown himself to be an outstanding teacher.
