Article: "A field guide to Sprawl" opens Febuary 4th.(on exhibit)

Sprawl is an ugly thing, devouring land and natural resources, creating environments more appropriate for cars than people. Still, the photographs in "A Field Guide to Sprawl" are strangely gorgeous. The book, written by Yale professor Dolores Hayden, is a devil's dictionary of terms relating to sprawl. Each definition is illustrated by an aerial photograph taken by Jim Wark. This book will be transformed into an exhibition at the Westchester Arts Council, consisting of enlargements of many of the photos. The exhibition will open at the Arts Exchange, 31 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains, on February 4th and run through April 1st.
