Mar. 8--Cultures clashed in an overflowing banquet hall Tuesday night as the Crystal Lake Park District board reconsidered its denial last week of a request to hold a Gay Games event this summer on the town's lake. By 9:45 p.m., after dozens of people had spoken--with more waiting in line--the board had yet to vote on a proposal to hold the 2006 Games' rowing competition July 16 on Crystal Lake as part of the Chicago-based gathering of gay athletes from around the world. With board President Jerry Sullivan on vacation last week, the board denied the Gay Games' request Thursday in a 2-2 vote. A majority was needed to approve the rowing event. ...
