Mar. 4--NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Elon University women's basketball team watched its second-half rally fall short Friday night, falling 55-53 in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament.
That brought a disappointing end to the season. Elon rallied from a 40-28 deficit to lead 47-46 with 1:37 left after Tierra Bumbrey made a pair of free throws. But Davidson took the lead for good on the next possession on Janell Crayton's jumper. Bumbrey threw away Elon's last chance to tie on the team's final possession after she tried unsuccessfully to drive the lane.
