Mar. 9--INDEPENDENCE -- Buchanan County supervisors missed their window of opportunity to comment on a proposed hog confinement project, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
And because of their tardiness, until January 2007 other suggested operations in Buchanan County can proceed without meeting stringent criteria outlined in the master matrix grading system. Instead, proposed livestock confinements must only meet minimum state guidelines.
