Nayeem asked to go; AIFF looking for foreign coach
New Delhi, Mar 9 (PTI) National coach Syed Nayeemuddin is on his way out as the All India Football Federation is looking to appoint a foreign coach before the next international assignment in July.
Unhappy at India's dismal performance in the two Asian Cup qualifiers against Japan and Yemen, the Federation today decided to "reorganise" the technical team comprising manager P K Banerjee, assistant coach Gabriel Joseph and goalkeeping coach Atanu Bhattacharya, besides Nayeem.
This effectively means that the national team will have fresh coaching staff when it takes the field for its next match.
