By this time next year, there could be a new building to replace East Syracuse's Fire Station 2 in northern DeWitt.
The DeWitt Town Board last week authorized sending requests for proposals to six companies that have expressed interest in designing and building a multi-purpose facility in Sanders Creek Office Park.
The town also is looking into having the builder own the facility and lease it back to the town.
The tentative timetable includes selecting a contractor by mid-April and occupying of the building by February 2007.
