Mar. 12--The kings of college hockey knew time was running out. Two-time defending Division I champion Denver put its NCAA post-season hopes in jeopardy by losing to Minnesota Duluth in Friday's best-of-3 Western Collegiate Hockey Association men's playoff series opener.
The Pioneers believed their NCAA fate was tied to Saturday's rematch at Magness Arena. Two fortunate goals blew life back into Denver's hopes in a 3-2 victory before 5,657 fans.
