Mar. 12--Cummings High's problems are outside the classroom. More than a week after a judge threatened to close Cummings High School, Burlington is still waiting to see what happens next. Wake County Superior Court Judge Howard Manning Jr.

announced recently that Cummings is among 19 schools statewide he is prepared to close if academic achievement levels don't improve soon.
