For the past year, Intel has been pushing the message that there's more to a PC than just the processor. Indeed, many chips go into creating a system that offers all the features an individual user may want. Intel calls this approach of offering a processor and other chips together "platformization."
The company first experimented with this approach to create its highly successful Centrino platform and brand, offering a wireless chip and core logic together with its processor. Intel sought to propagate that success with other products when it announced plans to become a platform company rather than simply a processor company.
