Peter Kendall was elected President of the National Farmers' Union (NFU) of England and Wales on Tuesday this week, defeating Tim Bennett who had served for just two years.
The result was announced following a vote of council delegates at the NFU annual conference in Birmingham. It is the first time that an NFU president has failed to complete a full term of office.
Kendall, a crop farmer in Bedfordshire, was previously the deputy president. Following the announcement, he said: "Farming is at a pivotal stage in its development needing a strong and clear leadership, representing all sections of a united industry is vital. I am looking forward to the ...
