RICHMOND - A plan to raise money for Hampton Roads' top-priority road projects by collecting tolls on major bridges and tunnels was withdrawn Thursday by its frustrated patron.
"To hell with them," Senate Transportation Chairman Martin Williams, R-Newport News, said a day after delegates from Hampton Roads amended his legislation to set up a regional authority with no power to collect tolls. "I'm not dealing with them anymore."
