HER husband is known for his extravagant spending and now, it seems, his profligacy is rubbing off on his wife.

The Duchess of Cornwall is spending up to [pounds sterling]3,000 a month on having a hairdresser at her beck and call.

Her stylist is society coiffeur Hugh Green - who boasts Joan Collins among his clients - and is, say friends, the only man Camilla trusts to come near her unruly locks.

And because she does not want to be seen looking less than perfect in public, she insists that Mr Green, who owns a salon in upmarket Belgravia, visit her at Clarence House instead.
