BUDDY TABOR Hope: The First Step Toward Disillusionment Buddy Tabor
Buddy Tabor is a compelling writer with songs inhabited by sharply drawn characters--broken hearted drunks, tough truck drivers, Louisiana women and meth addicts--all sung with a craggy voice and well played guitar, mandolin, drums, bass and more. "Wait for Me" is a wistful tune with a singable chorus. One of my favorites is "Creole Woman," a country/zydeco number where even the lyrics will get your toes tapping. Tabor writes like Dave Carter, with words that tumble and hum like the sound of a semi hell-bent for home. A spooky organ underscores "Voodoo Doll," a bitter view of love. "Jesus ...
