Hungary announces seven new cases of bird flu, bringing total to 45
BUDAPEST. MARCH 14. INTERFAX CENTRAL EUROPE - Hungarian animal health officials have registered seven more cases of dead birds infected with the H5 bird flu virus, bringing the total number of cases in Hungary to 45, the Prime Minister's Office announced in a statement late Monday evening.
"The carcasses of the seven birds were collected from five different areas of the country. All necessary steps have been taken, such as stepping up police presence in the regions and setting up the safety and surveillance zones in line with EU guidelines," government spokesman Andras Batiz said in the ...
