Article: DUBAI FOOD TRADE GROWS 128% IN 2001-2005.

DUBAI, March 14 Asia Pulse - Dubai's trade in foodstuff rose 128 per cent between the year 2001 and 2005, according to figures complied by Department of Statistics at Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC).

The total value of foodstuff trade in 2005 reached Dhs19.96 billion (US$5.4 billion) while the corresponding figure for 2001 was Dhs8.74 billion.

Compared with 2004, when tthe turnover in trade was Dhs15.02 billion, there was a 33 per cent increase in 2005.

In 2005, the value of imports stood at Dhs13.27 billion, exports at Dhs3.11 billion and re-exports at Dhs 3.57 billion.
