China sets a target of 8 per cent growth rate during 2006-'10

Beijing, Mar 14 (PTI) Setting a target of eight per cent growth rate, China's parliament today endorsed the blueprint for its 11th Five Year Plan, which pledged to address burning issues like urban-rural divide, rural and hi-tech development.
The nearly 3000-member-strong National People's Congress, approved the 2006-2010 Plan which had set an eight per cent growth rate for 2006 and 7.5 per cent annually for the five years up to 2010 respectively by reducing energy consumption and pollutant discharge.
