Mar. 15--DEL CITY -- The Centennial Grove project in Del City soon will have a centerpiece: a memorial to the victims of the May 3, 1999, tornado.
Del City officials are considering a design proposal for the memorial. The tornado destroyed 500 homes and damaged 1,000 more in the city, Mayor Brian Linley said Tuesday.
The memorial design is an upside-down V, which will represent the tornado, with an eagle flying out of the rubble, City Manager Mark Edwards said.
