Mar. 15--Although plans for upscale townhouses in downtown Allentown haven't won final approvals, Bethlehem developer John Zawarski said his firm has already secured deposits. "The interest is definitely there," he said Tuesday after the Allentown Planning Commission tabled consideration of the first phase of the project. Zawarski said there have been 16 deposits from prospective home buyers since advertisements began earlier this year. The townhouses start in the low $200,000s, he said.
