A north-metro legislator says that it's time for the state to consider how citizens should go about splitting school districts and that the Elk River district is a good example of the need to do so.
Rep. Joyce Peppin, R-Rogers, has introduced a bill that would ask voters whether they want to split the Elk River district into two: one north of the Mississippi River including Elk River, Zimmerman and Livonia; and one south of the river including Rogers, Otsego and Hassan Township.
The bill is essentially the same as one Peppin authored last year; it did not receive a hearing. Peppin said she did not seek a hearing ...
