EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- DIRECTV, the nation's leading digital television service, is giving die hard "American Idol" fans even more ways to catch "American Idol Extra," the first-ever series to reveal the backstage drama of what really happens on "American Idol" after the weekly vote-off show on FOX.

FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment's "American Idol Extra" will be showcased on DIRECTV channel 101 each week throughout the 2006 "American Idol" season, beginning tonight at 11 p.m. PST. The show will air every hour, on the hour Fridays and Saturdays leading up to that week's debut episode of "CD USA," an exclusive weekly music series DIRECTV launched in January. ...
