Scientists have uncovered a fossil forest under a Welsh steelworks, which gives a glimpse of how Wales looked as a tropical jungle millions of years ago. The idea that Wales was once a sultry region covered by rainforest may seem fanciful, especially after recent snowfall. But imagining how our country looked before dinosaurs roamed the plains is now becoming easier. An area the size of a rugby pitch has been unearthed, crammed with the remains of plants from 300 million years ago, ranging from huge trees down to leaves and cones. ...
