The California General Industrial Activities Storm Water Permit (General Permit) was published in November 1991 and amended in September 1992. To begin the compliance process with the General Permit, operators of an industrial facility must submit a Notice of Intent (NOI). The deadline for submitting the NOI was March 1992. Approximately 10,000 industrial facilities of an estimated 40,000 throughout California submitted NOIs to the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB).
