The viral marketing sector is rapidly reaching maturity, with agencies reporting budgets well in excess of #100,000 for new campaigns for major brands and sharp rises in demand for campaigns from clients.
While the average budget for smaller agencies is in the low tens of thousands of pounds, larger agencies are finding that clients are increasingly willing to spend over #100,000 on viral marketing activity.
"Viral budgets were in the low #20,000s a year or two ago, but now they're two or three times that," said Will Jeffrey, MD of production company Maverick Media. "Budgets are over #100,000 for big brands."
