"Just wait," said Dirk de Bod, my professional hunter "He'll step out."
I waited in prone position atop a boulder, staring down into the thick brush, arm wrapped into a tight sling. Just a hint of movement, and then it was there, sunlight glinting on its gray hide and sharp horns. I took the quartering shot and it was down. We approached carefully to admire the fabulous trophy--all 10 pounds of it, and all 3 1/2 inches of its magnificent horns. It was a Damara dik-dik, my prized trophy in Namibia in 2003.
