Mar. 20--HAMPTON, Ga. -- Bill Lester's celebrated debut in Nextel Cup racing may have to wait as late as Tuesday, or even longer. All-day rain Sunday forced postponement of the Golden Corral 500, and Lester's start as the first black driver in the Cup series since Willy T. Ribbs in 1986. Officially, NASCAR officials planned to return to Atlanta Motor Speedway at 11 a.m. today in an attempt to run the race. But actually, the forecast is for a 100 percent chance of rain in the Atlanta area today, with a massive front that extended west into Texas.
