Although cable operators are still exhibiting an interest in Fox Broadcasting Co.'s proposed cable service, a significant number are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the terms of the deal. Some top 20 operators report that negotiations are losing momentum.
So far, only Tele-Communications Inc. has cut a deal with the broadcaster. Operators industry-wide have said they will not accept a deal based on those terms.
It seems clear that Fox will have to drastically alter the model deal that TCI signed before other operators come on board. Operators, who are hesitant to speak on the record, say the TCI/Fox arrangement was a sweetheart deal between two ...
