DARK CHOCOLATE'S FUTURE is not dark. On the contrary, sources tell CandyBUSINESS the sector remains ripe for increased volume and sales as research continues to center on its healthy benefits and consumers latch onto its indulgent and better-for-you appeal.
The Hershey Co. estimates dark chocolate to be a $700 million segment of the candy category, growing at an annual rate of 11.2 percent during the past four years, says spokesperson Stephanie Moritz.
