Mar. 22--CRESTVIEW -- The Okaloosa County School District will offer a free universal pre-kindergarten program this summer.
The program, which compresses the nine-month pre-K class into nine weeks, is geared toward kids who will be entering kindergarten when the school year starts in August.
The class will be intensive and conform to all state standards, but students will have their share of breaks.
"It's going to be a long day," said Pam Meadows, voluntary pre-kindergarten coordinator for the school district. "They'll have breakfast, lunch and a nap."
