Thailand's telecom companies will release their annual financial results by the end of February 2006; the companies are likely to post a negative growth in earnings. Price wars by cellular-phone companies are considered the main reason. Fourth-quarter earnings of most telcos improved slightly as the companies resisted the cutthroat price competition. The increases are not expected to reverse the negative impact of the second and third quarters. According to Capital Nomura Securities analysis, the intense price wars have reduced the wireless sector's normalized profit by 9 percent.
