The medical, political and social odyssey that was the road to a hospital in Maple Grove ended Wednesday when Gov. Tim Pawlenty signed legislation allowing ground to be broken by next spring for the first new stand-alone hospital in Minnesota in more than two decades.
Pawlenty signed the hospital bill in a ceremony at Maple Grove City Hall after more than a year of intense jockeying among the largest hospitals in the Twin Cities for the right to serve one of the fastest-growing areas in the state.
