MADISON, Wis., March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- What's the very best cheese in the world? According to an international panel of expert judges at the 2006 World Championship Cheese Contest, concluded here today, it's Emmentaler Switzerland Premier Cru made by Walo von Muhlenen, cheesemaker at von Muhlenen Ltd. in Dudingen, Switzerland. The 19 judges sniffed and tasted their way through a record-breaking 1,795 cheese and butter entries from 19 countries during the three-day competition. Out of 100 possible points, the Emmentaler scored 98.271 in the final round of judging, during which the judges re-evaluated all gold-winning cheeses to determine the ultimate champion.
