The situation in Paraguay has been so bleak for such a long time that it becomes difficult to think of the country as making any progress at all. But progress is, indeed, what the graph above shows-albeit only in the narrow area of macroeconomic management.

What the graph shows is a marked upward trend in purchasing power not only for the decade but a more sharply accelerated trend over the past five years.
