I think statements made by officials at UW Hospital and Clinics regarding the closing of the fertility clinic are prime examples of how little is understood about the impact of infertility on couples.
Infertility is not strictly a women's issue; it affects men and women alike. It is estimated that as many as 10 million couples, or roughly 20 percent of all couples of childbearing age, are affected by infertility. And the number continues to grow.
