Restaurants: Price, location important in luring diners

Not even cheap eats can dodge this recession's rude awakening.

Business at local fast food restaurants is down about 15 percent from pre-1990. That's not as bad as fine dining, which is off by more than 25 percent, according to the San Diego Restaurant Association. But it's still enough to send fast food retailers on a grease-slicked slide into price wars. They're also trying out new game plans to gain market share in saturated San Diego.
