Circuit Court Judge Reginald I. Lloyd recently was named U.S. Attorney for South Carolina.

Lloyd, 39, became the first Black to serve in the permanent position in South Carolina since Reconstruction.

In his new role, Lloyd will supervise lawyers through out the state and will be responsible for implementing laws and defending national security.

He will also serve as chairman of South Carolina's District Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee to help enhance cooperation among law enforcement agencies.
