Jacques Barrot, the European Transport Commissioner, has not given up on the idea of tabling a proposal for legislation on using car headlamps during the day.
"I am not insensitive to the subject", he told the 25 EU Transport Ministers during their Council meeting in Brussels on 27 March. The Commissioner confirmed that he and his colleague Gunter Verheugen (for Enterprise and Industry) were doing their best to "add depth to the dossier" and that it was their intention this year to propose "solutions for both new and existing cars at the same time".
