On a recent visit to Morocco, editorial director John Chadwick had the opportunity to meet Monsieur Mourad Cherif, directeur general of ONA Pole Mines, a member of the ONA executive committee and president of the Association des Industries Minieres du Maroc (AIMM), Morocco's mining industry association.
ONA is the largest private company in Morocco and one of the largest private African companies outside South Africa. Its activities are divided among four divisions (Poles) - Mining, Agro-Distribution, Financial and High Technology. In 1991, Pole Mines contributed 5.7% of group turnover, $87.9 million.
