Mar. 29--The AAA no longer calculates the cost of owning and operating a car based on the wheels in Methuselah's driveway. So that expense declined 6.2 cents a mile, or $620 a year for 2006 from 2005--despite higher gas prices. The AAA has been working up these numbers since 1950 for its annual "Your Driving Costs" brochure.
