A member of the Toyota Group is setting up a plant in China to supply parts expressly to Korean carmakers.
Denso Corp. has set up a new company in Tianjin, China, to make instrument clusters. Toyota Motor Corp. owns 22.9 percent of Denso.
"Denso established this new company in response to the production needs of Korean automotive manufacturers in China,'' Mitsuharu Kato, managing officer for Denso's Information & Safety Systems Business Group, said in a statement.
Another Denso plant makes instrument clusters in China for others. But Denso's traditional customer, Toyota, lags Korean makers in China.
