Forecast: State tourism should be better this year
Michigan tourism should improve slightly in 2006, according to an industry forecast scheduled to be released Tuesday.
The annual outlook by Michigan State University's Travel, Tourism and Recreation Resource Center predicts business and leisure travel will rise a combined 1 percent to 2 percent in 2006, compared with a decline in 2005, said Don Holecek, the center's director.
Tourism spending, which rose 4 percent in 2005, should rise by 4 percent to 5 percent in 2006, he said.
