Bob and Courtney Maher were so happy with the in-vitro fertilization that produced their 8-month-old twin daughters, they were set to try the procedure again -- until they learned last week that UW Hospital will close its fertility clinic by June.
Now the Madison couple, patients at the clinic, might have to drive to Milwaukee or farther away to receive in-vitro fertilization, an intensive regimen that can involve several visits a week over many weeks.
