Gas power units are not competitive in China - experts
Shanghai. March 31. INTERFAX-CHINA - The increasing natural gas price has made natural gas fueled power units uncompetitive compared with conventional coal power units, said domestic experts.
"Natural gas power units are not competitive on the domestic market," said Jiang Liping, the vice chief engineer of the State Power Economic Research Center, a think tank run by the country's State Grid Corporation.
"When the cost of natural gas is more than 2.5 times the cost of coal with equivalent calorific value, natural gas power units will lose their competitiveness," Jiang told Interfax at the ...
